The nylon mono filament non coated material of Tamlon is non-absorbable but the progressive hydrolysis may create a gradual loss of up to 20% per year in its tensile strength. Nylon creates a minimum inflammatory reaction in the tissues followed by a gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous connective tissues. It is completely non-absorbable sterilized of 100% ethylene oxide. It is available in sizes, 11-0, 10-0, 9-0, 8-0, 7-0, 6-0, 5-0, 4-0, 3-0, 2-0, 0, 1, 2 of white, blue and black colours and apart from these, the package life is of 5 years and the packaging size is 1x12.
Composition | Long chain aliphatic polymers of Nylon 6 and Nylon 6.6 Structure- monofilament Origin - synthetic |

Asorbability | Non absorbable |
colour | Black |
Tissue reaction | Progressive hydrolysis may result in 20 % loss of tensile strength every year |
Advantage | Excellant for skin closure (Still Nylon is preferred in developed contries for subcuticular skin closure than any rapid absorbable sutures) Smooth and Easy passage through tissues due to its low frictional co-efficient. High tensile strenght even in fine thread numbers, thus commonly used in Opthalmic surgery and in other micro surgery |
